Our Guide to Rock
Across the Camel Estuary and facing Padstow, Rock has a reputation as one of Cornwall’s most stylish coastal escapes.
However, there is much more about this small North Cornwall village than up market second homes and celebrities. Windswept dunes, sailing boats, oyster beds and Atlantic skies give it a special appeal.
Visit for a few hours, a few days or a holiday and you will discover a place that’s beautiful and a little wild at the same time.
Waterski, Wake Surf, Paddleboard, Kayak
Sheltered from the Atlantic, the Camel Estuary is ideal for watersports
Ferry to Padstow
Board the Black Tor ferry to Padstow – possibly the most scenic short ferry crossing in Cornwall.
Relax on Daymer Bay
A 30 minute stroll from Rock. The white sands and gentle shallows of Daymer beckon for swimming, water sports and sunset picnics.
Visit St Enodoc Church
Climb Brea Hill and you’ll see the wonky steeple of this famous church which is partly hidden among the sand dunes. The resting place of Sir John Betjeman, it’s peaceful and poetic.
Dining or Drinks
Head to The Mariners or the St Enodoc Hotel. Paul Ainsworth’s Rock eateries include breathtaking views od the estuary and dishes that celebrate Cornish produce.

Rock Beach
One of Rock's greatest asset's is the long sweep of sand along the Camel Estuary. Sheltered, calm and expansive at low tide you can walk barefoot around to Daymer Bay.
Protected from the Atlantic swells, it’s a paradise for paddle boarding, swimming and boating. A few minutes down the coast you can be chasing the waves and surfing at Polzeath. A perfect coastal location.
Camel Estuary or the wild Atlantic? A peaceful paddle or adrenalin packed thrills? Rock a microcosm of Cornwall’s coastal charm.
What to Do In Rock
A lazy lunch overlooking The Camel Estuary or perhaps a paddleboard adventure? Rock has high energy days with slow coastal living.
The Camel Ski School offers waterskiing, wake surfing or paddleboarding and you can charter your own boat for the day.
On dry land, play golf at the renowned St Enodoc Golf Club or put on your walking boots and follow the South West Coast Path to Polzeath, climbing Brea Hill for fabulous views, then dropping down to the lesser known Greenaway Beach for some rockpooling. On your way, don’t miss the historic St Enodoc Church.
Watersports to scenic walks, discover Rock at your leisure.

The Food and Drink Scene in Rock
From Michelin dining in nearby Padstow to sundowners near the beach, Rock delivers the choice while focussing on the best of Cornwall’s larder.
Ainsworth is a big name here, with The Mariners serving Porthilly oysters from The Camel Estuary and beers from the local brewery, Sharps. He’s also behind the St Enodoc Hotel which is being renovated and due to re open in summer 2026.
In the village, the Pityme has a log burner and live music, Fee’s Deli stocks ready meals and deli goods and The Dining Room is for fine dining.
Rock is also a hub for Cornish craft beers, with the Bluntrock Brewery serving small-batch beers from its taproom and Porthilly Spirit Distillery producing artisanal spirits infused with the local botanics.
