With the summer crowds gone, Rock beach and the wider Camel Estuary are calmer and quieter. It's the perfect season for walking — the South West Coast Path runs right through the village, with golden autumn light over the water and far fewer people on the sand. Wrap up, bring a flask, and take your time.

Cosy Evenings In

The hot tub is a summer feature, available in July and August, but autumn has its own comforts. The games room is ready for rainy afternoons, and the west-facing garden still catches a good evening light for a glass of something warm on the patio before dinner.

What's On in October

Genuinely close by — about 25 minutes' drive — Tintagel Castle is especially dramatic in October, with the autumn swell crashing below the ruins. Pair it with St Nectan's Glen nearby, a wooded valley walk to a 60-foot waterfall, for a proper half-day out.

Further afield, but worth it if you're planning a longer day: the Eden Project's Halloween activities and the Lost Gardens of Heligan's Harvest celebration are both around an hour's drive, and make a genuinely good day trip during half term.

Weather and What to Pack

Expect average temperatures of 10–15°C, with rain on roughly half the days — layers, a proper waterproof, and wellies are worth packing alongside the usual holiday kit. It's still very walkable weather, just not beach-weather in the traditional sense.
