DAYMER BAY GUIDE
Daymer Bay: A Guide to North Cornwall's Favourite Family Beach

A Short Trip from One of Cornwall's Favourite Beaches
Daymer Bay is one of North Cornwall's calmest, most family-friendly beaches: a wide, gently shelving stretch of sand sheltered from the Atlantic swell, on the Camel Estuary. TREALLEN ROCK is about two miles from Daymer Bay. You can walk to the beach or drive there, so you can be on the sand for a morning swim or a picnic and back for lunch.
What to Know Before You Go
Parking: there is a paid car park beside the beach, reached by narrow roads, with a short flight of steps and sandy dune paths down to the sand.
Facilities: public toilets by the car park (seasonal hours). Cafes and shops are in Rock and Polzeath.
Safety: there is no lifeguard at Daymer Bay. The estuary can have strong tidal currents and boat traffic, so keep swims close to shore and check the tide. Polzeath, a short drive away, has lifeguard cover in season.
Tides: low tide uncovers a long stretch of sand. At high tide the beach narrows and the currents quicken.
St Enodoc Church and the Coast Path
From the bay, paths lead through the dunes to St Enodoc Church, once buried in sand and now the resting place of the Poet Laureate Sir John Betjeman. You can also climb Brea Hill for views over the Camel Estuary, or follow the South West Coast Path towards Polzeath. Read our guide to three coastal walks straight from Rock.
Room to Relax When You're Back
TREALLEN ROCK sleeps 6 across 3 bedrooms, with 2 bathrooms, a games room and a west-facing garden. The hot tub is available in July and August. Unlike a hotel room, you have your own front door and your own kitchen, and nobody else's holiday to work around.
