Three Coastal Walks Straight from Rock

Rock sits directly on the South West Coast Path, at the mouth of the Camel Estuary — which means you can lace up your boots and start walking straight from the door, no car or transfer needed. Here are three of our favourite routes, all reachable on foot from TREALLEN ROCK.

Rock to Polzeath

The classic route: follow the estuary path out towards the open coast, finishing at Polzeath's beach and cafes. It's roughly 4 miles each way, with some of the best views back across the Camel Estuary along the way. Tired legs can catch the ferry across to Padstow instead of walking back, or continue on to Pentire Point and The Rumps — a National Trust headland with some of the most dramatic coastal scenery in North Cornwall.

Rock to Daymer Bay

A gentler option, at around 2 miles each way. This stretch hugs the estuary rather than the open coast, making it a good choice for an easy morning walk, with children, or with dogs. Daymer Bay itself is a wide, sandy beach that's sheltered from the Atlantic swell, and the walk passes close to St Enodoc Church, tucked into the dunes.

Across to Padstow

Take the short passenger ferry across the estuary to Padstow, then pick up the coast path around Stepper Point before looping back — or simply spend a few hours exploring Padstow's harbour, restaurants and shops on foot before the ferry back to Rock. It's an easy way to combine a walk with a proper lunch out.

Making Rock your base
