Daymer Bay Guide

Nestled between Rock and Polzeath at the mouth of the Camel Estuary, Daymer Bay is one of North Cornwall's best-loved beaches — and it's an easy walk straight from TREALLEN ROCK.

Getting There

It's roughly 2 miles each way on foot, following the estuary path from Rock rather than the open coast — a gentle route suitable for an easy morning walk, with children, or as a warm-up before a longer day on the coast path. If you'd rather drive, there's a car park directly at the beach (charged, seasonal).

The Beach

Daymer Bay is a wide, gently shelving sandy beach, sheltered from the Atlantic swell by Brea Hill — which makes it one of the calmer, more family-friendly spots on this stretch of coast compared with the open surf beaches nearby. At low tide, the sand stretches south towards Rock. There's no lifeguard cover, so it's worth checking tide times and taking normal care in the water.

St Enodoc Church

The walk to Daymer Bay passes close to St Enodoc Church, a 12th-century church half-buried in the dunes and the resting place of poet Sir John Betjeman. It's a short detour worth making, whichever route you take.

Facilities

There's a small beach shop and cafe by the car park for essentials, along with public toilets. Facilities are more limited outside the summer season, so it's worth bringing what you need if you're visiting off-peak.

A Note for Dog Owners

Daymer Bay itself welcomes dogs year-round. TREALLEN ROCK, however, is a pet-free property — something many of our guests specifically look for, whether that's for allergy reasons or simply the appeal of a spotless, dog-hair-free house to come back to after a day on the beach.
