The Sailing Season on the Camel Estuary: A Regatta Calendar

Competitive sailing

The Camel Estuary has a proper sailing season, run by the Rock Sailing & Waterski Club (RSWSC) right on our doorstep. If you're planning a stay around it — or just curious what all the boats are doing — here's the shape of the calendar.

Summer Series

Through July and August, RSWSC runs a rolling programme of club racing and open events — Lasers, Larks, Phantoms and more, with visiting fleets alongside club members. It's worth a wander down to the club most weekends in season; there's usually something happening on the water.

Junior Camel Week

Held during the summer school holidays, this is RSWSC's under-18s week — competitive racing alongside fun social events, aimed at getting younger sailors properly involved.

Camel Week

The highlight of the season, held in August — one of the largest menagerie regattas outside Cowes Week, mixing serious racing with a full programme of social events on shore. If you only catch one week of sailing on the estuary, this is the one.

Rock Oyster Festival

Not a sailing event, but it falls in the same July-August window and is worth planning around too — see our full guide to Rock Oyster.

Exact Dates

RSWSC releases its full events calendar closer to each season, so exact dates shift year to year — check their site directly once you know your travel dates if timing matters to you. Broadly, expect the pattern above: racing through July and August, Junior Camel Week during the school holidays, and Camel Week itself in August.
